The Tre Cime, an incredible place in the Dolomites

These 3 emblematic peaks have become a must in the Italian Alps

As the mountains are so beautiful and the hiking possibilities are so numerous.
Hike around the Tre Cime of Lavaredo in the natural park which is part of the Unesco world heritage.

The Tre Cime Lavaredo is a paradise for hikers.

In this emblematic place, it is one of the most popular activities, even in the summertime. However, before starting the story and talking more specifically about hiking, we give you two tips to enjoy the trails in peace.
  • The first one is to get up early, very early, leave around 5h30/6h (see before if you want to take advantage of the sunrise).
  • The second one, we dedicate it to you if for you vacations rhyme with a minimum of sleep, and we understand it well, it is to move away from the traditional hiking loop around the Tre Cime.

The main path that leads to the Locatelli mountain hut remains the most frequented. As soon as you get away, you find calm, lightness, and the sound of the mountain almost all to yourself. Isn't life beautiful?

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo - Dolomites Italy

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo rise to more than 2500 m and give off an impressive charisma, like three huge shields that rise on their throne. Oh, it was early this morning, we were alone in the world with these imposing ladies. The Tre Cime di Lavaredo is located in the eastern Dolomites and stands like a menhir, with a north face more than 500m high. The three peaks are built on the same base, surrounded by a crown of other mountain groups. They are part of the most beautiful mountain landscapes of Italy.

In the center of the group rises the Cima Grande (2,999 m), whose northern face is crisscrossed with large black streaks. The Cima Piccola has a sheer drop to the north, while to the south and east, its antecedent peak overhangs the screen. On the same base rise finally the Punta di Frida (2 792 m) and the Cima Piccolossima (about 2 700 ).

That's the question! Why one mountain rather than another and these in particular... If the mountains of the Tre Cime have a very particular relief and shape,

The surrounding landscape is incredible and worth the detour. Even if, I would come back to that, the crowd and the over-touristic aspect "spoils" the picture a bit.
